Shabbat Observance during the retreat

We are happy to accomodate for Shabbat Observers during a retreat in Ein Dor

Sabbath observance, putting on Tefillin and praying can be done while maintaining the silence and the other guidelines that support the practice in the retreat for all the participants.

Please inform us in the registration form that you are a Sabbath-observer, so that we can prepare for this in advance.

Kitchen, food, utensils:

Our kitchen is dairy-vegetarian.

The vegetables and fruits are ordered from major external service providers, as are the dried products.

The kitchen does not check or sort cereals and legumes. The green leaves we use for cooking and seasoning are not from insect-free crops, but are soaked in water and washed well before use.

Most of the cooking and serving utensils were purchased by us, however there are also some that came as a donation from different households, and we have no knowledge of what was cooked or served in them. A personal plate and cutlery can be brought for use during the course.

Friday night:

There will be candles, Tirosh, challah and salt.

Candles can be lit independently until 18:00.

At 18:00, before dinner, there will be a short kiddush with one song and a blessing.
The kiddush is done in one of the classrooms, and not in the dining room.

In order to maintain the retreat setting, please arrive for dinner by 18:15.

Conduct during the Sabbath:

Use of electricity - In the meditation hall, lighting, air conditioning and sound systems are activated during Shabbat, and we can not turn them on continuously or via Shabbat clock.

Consider that you will need to be present in the hall during the Sabbath.

The dining room also has lighting and air conditioning under the same conditions.

Kosher meals for Shabbat - Before Shabbat begins, we will operate a hot plate and a separate area for Shabbat observers. Dishes, not watery ones and which were cooked before the Sabbath, will be placed on the hot plate.

Shabbat departure - Shabbat observers are invited to stay at the end of the course until Shabbat ends, and also to complete then the giving of the Dana.
